Simplicity and the Holidays

The holiday season is fast approaching. I am really having a hard time believing that 2017 is wrapping up! This year I decided instead of making a resolution, to choose a theme. My annual theme has been simplicity. Gee Golly, have I simplified this year. I have eliminated clutter in work and at home, simplified my days off to spend more time doing the things that bring me joy, learned to say no to things that felt too stressful and stopped overpacking my schedule. I also learned to stop overpacking my bags for vacation and translated simplicity to many other areas of my life. Gift giving is one of the other ways I have really learned to be intentional this year.

Giving a gift is supposed to bring you joy. So why then is there so much stress around purchasing presents? I think for me, a lot of the stress came from the lack of time. I also have a few people in my life who really don't need anything, they were always my least favorite people to shop for. I have learned though, that I don't need to purchase the hottest new items or shop for hours. I really just have to pay attention. What simple thing would improve the quality of this person's life? What could they really use?

I have given gift certificates for car detailing, beauty services (surprise!), and date nights this year. For kid's, I have done gift cards to places they love, like Jamba Juice or craft supplies that they will actually use. And after all my years in this industry, I know that one of the favorite gifts that I give is beauty products. Everyone needs a good shampoo or hairspray.

Paul Mitchell has done a great job this year producing some great gift packages at a savings. We decided to bring in one in particular. Our best selling brand in the shop is Awapuhi Wild Ginger and this gift set has three great products for virtually any woman in your life. The Moisturizing Lather Shampoo, Keratin Cream Rinse, and Styling Treatment Oil are great for all hair types. It retails for $40.  A teacher, sister-in law, co-worker, or best friend would be elated to get this beautiful gift set, wouldn't you?

Looking for something else? We have a holiday catalogue of other gift sets available for preorder. Check out the slide show below. Prices range from $17-$40. I will definitely be simplifying by ordering some of these for my loved ones. Even my bald husband loves some Tea Tree Shampoo. This year Paul Mitchell is donating a portion of the proceeds to BABY2BABY, providing low income children, ages 0-12 years, with diapers, clothing, and all the basic necessities that every child deserves. In other words, your gift gives twice!

I haven't decided what my theme for 2018 will be yet, but I hope that some of my new habits from this year will stick. My natural instinct is to feel like there's not enough time in the day, especially during the busy holiday season. This year I am really looking forward to soaking in the spirit, spending time cuddling my kiddos with something warm to drink close by. Ask me how it went after it's all over! I hope to have inspired you to implement a bit of simplicity into your holiday.

Give More Love,
